WillpowerTN — Privacy Policy

WillpowerTN is a website blocker that runs entirely inside your browser. It is built so that none of your data ever leaves your device.

What we collect

Nothing. WillpowerTN has no servers, no analytics, no accounts, and no tracking. We never receive any of your information.

What is stored on your device

The extension uses your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) to save the following only on your own computer:

• Your blocklist (the domains you choose to block) and quick-add categories.
• Your settings: blocking on/off, schedule, SafeSearch toggle, friction settings, and temporary-unlock state.
• A salted hash of your password (PBKDF2-SHA256, 150,000 iterations). Your password itself is never stored and cannot be recovered from the hash.
• A cached copy of a public adult-content domain list (see below).

This data never leaves your browser profile. Uninstalling the extension removes it.

Network access

WillpowerTN makes one kind of network request: it downloads a public, text-format list of adult-content domains (from The Blocklist Project on GitHub) so it can block them, and refreshes that list about once a week. This download only fetches data — no code is downloaded or executed — and it sends no information about you. No browsing history, URLs, or personal data are transmitted at any point.

Why each permission is needed

• declarativeNetRequest + access to all sites — to block navigations to your blocked sites and to adult-content domains, and to enforce SafeSearch. Blocking uses declarative rules; the extension does not read the content of the pages you visit.
• storage / unlimitedStorage — to save your settings and the (large) adult-domain list locally.
• alarms — to re-apply your schedule and temporary unlocks when the time changes, and to refresh the adult list weekly.
• tabs — to read the current tab's address so the popup can offer to block the current site. No browsing history is collected.

Children & families

WillpowerTN includes permanent adult-content filtering and SafeSearch enforcement, making it suitable for shared and family devices.
